Southland Academy is proud to announce that our school is a 2024-2025 National Beta School of Merit. The school earned this recognition by offering National Beta to all eligible grades on their campus. The National Beta School of Merit award is given to honor a club’s dedication and commitment to academic excellence. To achieve this prestigious honor, a school must include members from all eligible grade levels in their Beta club. This year 5,930 Beta Clubs across the country received this award. In a congratulatory letter to the school, Bobby Hart, CEO said “Thank you for your continued support of National Beta and commitment to developing future leaders!” Senior Beta Club sponsorr, Jason Warnock, says “we are very proud of the achievements of all of our students. They worked very hard for this recognition. We know that our students will continue to excel in and out of the classroom.” With more than 500,000 active members and 14,000 clubs nationally and internationally, National Beta has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. National Beta recognizes outstanding achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, and fosters leadership skills. The STAR student award is a top academic achievement award given annually to a senior class member who has the highest SAT score in one sitting and is ranked in the top 10 students or top ten percent of the school’s graduating class. The PAGE Foundation Program of Excellence coordinates this program yearly. Dr. Larry Collins is pleased to announce that Mitchell Turton is Southland Academy’s STAR student for the graduating class of 2023. The STAR student has the privilege of naming a STAR teacher who has had a major influence on his life. Mitchell selected Mr. Jason Warnock as his STAR teacher. Mr. Warnock currently teaches Algebra 1 (Honors), geometry (Honors and Regular), and Algebra 3. We congratulate Mitchell and Mr. Warnock on this honor.
